These unique sisal basket bags are the perfect everyday purse that are guaranteed to get you compliments. The unique style is inspired by vintage 1970’s basket bags Jenna Bee fell in love with at flea markets.
These bags are a labor of love and a beautiful blend of two cultures- Kenya meets California. The sisal baskets are handmade in Kenya from pure, sustainably-sourced sisal fibre. The baskets are thoughtfully handmade- from harvesting the local sisal plant, to crushing the leaves and extracting the fibers, to naturally dying, and weaving the baskets. The basket weavers are Kenyan women from remote rural villages, who have learned the art of weaving from their mothers and grandmothers. Jenna Bee is partnering with these women to offer tangible empowerment to the artisans and promote their beautiful Kenyan culture. The baskets are finished with leather by Jenna Bee’s team in Southern California. The bags are stamped and sewn by hand with only the highest-quality vegetable tanned leather. The natural leather will become more beautiful and soft with the sun and time.
Pattern, color, and size might vary as each bag is one-of-a-kind and handmade.
Care: Avoid getting wet, the baskets are dyed with natural botanicals and colors may bleed if wet. Leather can be cleaned and conditioned with damp cloth or saddle soap.
